I'm gonna hit hard and fast on this one, as I kind of missed the boat on this about two weeks ago when the updating of the CA Aquatics Master Plan was the topic du jour.
Anyway, here are some enhancements I'd like to see in CA pools:
A 50-meter lap pool. With a lot of emphasis on fitness, interest in training/competing on triathlons, etc. a 50-meter pool only makes sense.
More lap swimming capacity in all CA pools. See above.
A pool fitted with a "bubble" for 12-month use. This was proposed some time back in Oakland Mills for the Stevens Forest pool but the concept fell through. Deserves revisiting.

Bill, Thanks for the post and thoughts re CA and pools/aquatics. The Aquatics Master process is just in phase one, so much more conversation is yet to be had.
I do encourage you to submit your thoughts on http://www.columbiaassociation.org/AquaticsMasterPlan/ or go Citizen 2.0 and add a link to this post over on the Patch article that has a lot of comments on it. You'll find that here - http://bit.ly/hEvmnV
Rock on.

The 50 meter pool and the bubble were mentioned at the meeting I attended on the Master Plan. Both might be something to consider for the low use Talbot Spring pool rather than just closing it for its lack of use.

I agree with all your suggestions, and I don't think they're too expensive. Good ideas!!!
