This is my last Irene post. Why? A number of reasons. One, less than an hour ago I saw the sun peek through the overcast conditions. Two, clearly, the worst of the storm has passed. Three, now that the storm is starting to whack New York and New England, I'm really growing weary of the coverage. Four, the first day of school is tomorrow and there are lots of better things to do.
I suspect that local restaurants are going to have a busy day today as people without power and/or water are going to be looking for somewhere to get something to eat. I am interested in getting out and about and assessing what damage has befallen the area. But, I also have errands to do and it's time to get back to life.
So I think the storm of the century wasn't quite that. Not to minimize the damage or other effects, but the blizzards shut the whole place down for days. With this storm-- the weather radars are already showing the cloud cover associated with the storm to be just sounth of DC and of course, heading north. Looking forward to seeing more sun this afternoon.
Irene-- thanks hon, it was fun, but you were just a one-night stand.
