So the People Tree logo is about to become a piece of Columbia history. As evidenced by this article.
This is truly unfortunate, but I agree with the change. The people tree as a logo doesn't translate well onto stationery, much less as a website icon or something to use for mobile apps. I am trusting that the new media intelligensia over at CA can find a logo for the Association that everyone could enjoy.
Of course, this doesn't mean the People Tree doesn't remain an important device with which to symbolize Columbia. The (un?)official Columbia flag shows the people tree in black (or is that navy blue?) on a white field. I would like to see the Columbia flag made official somehow, and that also, some representation of the 10 villages is indicated on the Columbia flag. Columbia is, after all, a city (stop it, whining freaks!) and needs some official symbols.
Speaking of which, on an aside, in the above article, in looks like the author got a quote from the official anachronism of Columbia. Quite special. The author keeps quoting that individual, she's going to be eating out of a dumpster with "no clue", Andrei Blakeley. Jessica, you have been warned.

Hi Bill, Just as a point of clarification, Columbia is not a city; it's a master planned homeowners association; a 501(c)(4) service organization.
