So the County Council, as expected, voted to approve one fire tax for all of Howard County. An article about the vote and the implications thereof can be found here.
The only question remaining: what will the new fire tax be? I kind of think that the Executive's office shouldn't have been given a pass on this one. Seems to be someone (or someones) should've held out their vote(s) unless the Ulman Administration gave with the info. And don't give me that "we're waiting for the state budget stuff to settle" excuse. Not looking for an exact figure, but possibly, a range of what it could be? Please.
I am going to take another of my wild-assed guesses that the new rate will be higher than what the rate had been in either of the two fire tax subdistricts. Such is foreshadowed in the latter part of the article, if the reader carefully follows.
Time will tell!
