So the defendant in the case mentioned in this article is only 40-- I say, too young to be considered a crazy cat lady (though she apparently had all sorts of animals in her home). But just the right age to be considered a sick, sick freak. I don't mean sick in a perverted way, but obviously there are issues there. One just does not live with dead animals in their freezer, and with the power and water shut off. This is not good.
I do not think well of those who abuse animals, but something about this woman's story saddens me. I would hope that as the legal process of this case continues, that this woman's recompense to society be slanted more in favor of treatment and rehabilitation, rather than punishment. But some sick feeling in me tells me this woman will serve more time in prison than Michael Vick. Just feeling that.
