Well, as we all know now, there will be no second special session of the Maryland General Assembly this year, to address the possibility of expanding casino gambling in Maryland. Well, theoretically, there could still be a another special session, but 99.99% of observers do not expect that to happen.
What is interesting though, is that even if the legislature takes up expanded gambling in the 2013 session, that nothing will be able to be done about it for almost two years! Because any changes to casino gambling in Maryland would have to go to statewide referendum. nd after this coming election, the next opportunity for a statewide referendum won't be until November, 2014. No provision for a special referendum or for a referendum at the state of the 2014 primary in September. More can be read about it here.
I don't think that infinitesimal possibility of another special session in 2012 will come to fruition, so you casino-heads will have to go somewhere else to get your table games on for the next few years!
