So at the moment of this writing, Saturday, July 7 at 9:34am, the temperature in Columbia (per my trusty smartphone) is 79 degrees. And the high today is predicted for 104! OK, so I like it hot, but this is crazy hot. Especially considering the heat index will kick that baby up to about 110-115 today. Oh, and it's also predicted to be a Code Red day for air quality. Even the weekend warrior who is MM will be nutsy enough to exercise in Code Orange. But I'm not that bonkers as to mess with Code Red.
So, truly, today, and some would say every day, Howard County has become Hell County. Except, you must say it with emphasis and loudly. So, HELL County!!!
I'm a little bit at a loss for snark today, true believers. Because even though I love my heat, at this point the whole ball of wax has created a very unhealthy, even dangerous, combination. So, especially during the peak hours today, stay inside! Stay hydrated. If you must venture out, seek air conditioning. And check on those of populations more vulnerable to the conditions, such as elderly neighbors.
Keep yourself smart in this heat, so you can enjoy my slapping Howard... excuse me... HELL County's loser population about the head and shoulders for years to come! Because The Beers is best read by those who haven't had their brains fried by heat exposure. That's why some don't get it.
