Well, I think this is "follow-up week" on The 53! Because here comes another update on a recent post!
Recently I was wondering when same sex marriages in Maryland would commence? Now it seems I have my answer! January 1, says Maryland Attorney General (and of course, likely 2014 Gubernatorial candidate) Doug Gansler. He has given local governments his official okey-dokey to begin issuing marriage licenses as early as December 6th, with the effective date of January 1. You can read more about it here.
I personally can not wait for the first same sex marriage in the state of Maryland. I hope it happens at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve. And I hope it's covered somewhere-- local news, YouTube, wherever. I don't care! This is a historic event and should be marked as such.
