A little time out from all the holiday merriment for a celebration of a different sort-- the exile of Allen Dyer from the Board of Education but sadly, not from Howard County. Dyer's term will thankfully end on December 3, which is scarcely a week away!
That's the worst case scenario. A better-case scenario would be that the Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings may return with its ruling in the case to have Dyer removed from the board. And, should they choose to remove him from the board, that would happen immediately. There's an article about it here.
The sticky wicket here is that the state has up until December 5 to issue its ruling, so there's a possibility that the state may not issue it's ruling until after Dyer's term ends anyway. And, given the totally chickenshit way that this case has been handled, what with the turfing to the state and all, why wouldn't it surprise me to learn that the state will wind up doing exactly that?
So, one last time, I call on the State of Maryland to grow a set and do something more than raise taxes, build casinos and bend over for unions. Rule in the Allen Dyer case, either way, this week. Before the December 3 end of board term. That would be peachy.
Coverage of the end of public service for Howard County's most ineffective, ineffectual elected official ever (at least until when ADL gets onto the board) continues on this channel!
