HoCo blogophiles! Anyone remember Howard County Hayduke? The original "Big Three" of Howard County community blogs used to be Tale of Two Cities, HoCo Rising, and Howard County Hayduke. (I do think there is still a Big Three, but I humbly suggest that this presentation holds rank among that number!)
The author of Howard County Hayduke was one Ian Kennedy, who went on to other things in life, such as working as a designated ass-kicker for the Ulman administration and now as communications director for the Horizon Foundation. There's a great summary and discussion of Ian's volunteer activitiy in Howard County here, although... ahem.... I will mention that there is no indication of certain of his hobbies! And I don't mean the fact that Ian is a Orioles fan!
Among many other things (double ahem!) that aren't mentioned in the article, Ian ran a great race, although very slightly unsuccessfully, for the CA Board seat from Oakland Mills, back when I was leaving as OM Board Chair. Doubtless he would have been a much better choice in that spot than the incumbent, and testament to the type of talent that exists to help build Columbia for the next 45 years.
Although on occasion we will match brains on occasion in an effort to build a better mousetrap, I nonetheless consider Ian a friend, and it's great to see that he's set down roots here in the HoCo! We need more Ian Kennedys in this burg.

Thanks, MM! Even though I lost my first and likely only time on a ballot, I enjoyed that race and the opportunity to get to know so many people in OM.
And who knows... Maybe one day old Hayduke will come back for real.

At your age it must be hard to remember things because you only got one of "big three" founding blogs correct. Hayduke was indeed one of them, but the other two were by David Keelan and Dave Wissing. Evan Coren had a second tier blog that was fairly active. Wordbones hit the scene a little later and was in the second tier until Hayduke departed. Hocorising hit the scene as a blogger much later although I think he did make a rare comment on Keelan's blog, and I believe Keelan highlighted a letter to Ed that TC wrote at one point.
The fact that you think your blog is noteworthy today makes me question your grasp on reality.
