May December 3, 2012 be memorialized in Howard County as the day we became the Mesopotamia of the Western Hemisphere. Not because the Patapsco and the Patuxent bear resemblance to the Tigris and the Euphrates, although, insofar as those latter two rivers once framed a great civilization, so the former two rivers framed the once-great civilization of Howard County. A civilization that has suffered a traumatic, perhaps fatal blow, today. For in less than 80 minutes from the time of this writing, Ann DeLacy becomes a member of the Board of Education.
As I wrote a little less than a month ago, I ran into ADL and her campaign manager at a local lunch spot, and we had a pleasant conversation. Still, ADL was of the belief-- I feel, a tragically flawed one-- that her election signalled a mandate from the voters to throw stones and show everyone where all the bodies are buried.
I attempted, without much success, to advance a different view. I suggested that the vote was an appeal on the part of the voters of Howard County to ADL's better angels. That she should use her experience and expertise as a tool with which to build, not a club with which to batter and create damage. ADL seemingly scoffed at her notion, as did her campaign manager, who certainly seems like a nice person and plenty smart enough to know better.
Well, Howard County voters, starting at 4pm today (Monday), you're going to start to get the government you deserve. God Bless You all. And when all the stones are thrown, the bodies exhumed, witches hunted, and any free-thinking person to the ADL dogma of division and meanness is thrown into a concentration camp (let's say a vacated Frisky's Wildlife Sanctuary), you will realize the error of your ways. And you will wish for the sanity that even Allen Dyer provided.
Oh, and while on Allen Dyer, a hearty MM middle finger up the nose to the Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings for-- unless this happens in the next 65 minutes-- not ruling on the Dyer case before his term ends. So the whole damn thing was a waste of time for all concerned, on both sides. May the justice system treat all involved in this foolishness with similar indifference at some point in these people's lives.

Did you catch this statement by ADL on the Howardpubliced this week?
"School based staff has only to fear the local administration (and thats not minor) if they draw too much attention to themselves. Route 108 is a dog-eat-dog environment in which preserving the status quo is paramount. I never know what to believe!"
Just as predicted, she is out to settle old HCEA scores and demonize school administrators. Please review the post by ADl and let us know your thoughts.
