It's Super Bowl Eve, and the best coverage of all the goings-on from New Orleans, originating from the Steven's Forest neighborhood of the Village of Oakland Mills, Columbia, Maryland, is here again to rock your world.
Teams went through their final practices yesterday. Also, Jim and John Harbaugh had the head coaches' joint news conference on Friday. John looked relaxed, while Jim looked like he was going to run through a wall.
Also, NFL Commissioner Roger Goddell gave his "State of the NFL" speech and press conference yesterday. No, he's not running for anything. Among other things, there are going to be two NFL games in London next year (all a precursor to their being a team based in London, if not an entire European division of the NFL) and there was a question about the future of the St. Louis Rams franchise. I have an idea? How about moving the Rams to Annapolis, renaming them the Bombers or the Navigators, and giving Maryland three NFL teams. They can even keep their blue and gold colors. Don't they know about football and Maryland?
Today-- it's all building up to something. Something that can only be redeemed with fire.
One thing's for sure, there will be no "Super Night at the Super Bowl". What was that, you may ask? Ah, a variety show that ran in the 70s. God, it was so awful it was amazing. Want to experience it for yourself? Here, you can!
Today in New Orleans is the Celebrity Beach Bowl, where you get to see B-listers on down playing flag football in the sand. This used to be an NFL rookie flag football game, until running back Robert Edwards of the Patriots shredded his knee and ended his career playing flag football. But no one gives a crap if John Stamos shreds his knee, so have at it, John! Also, later today, the announcement of the newest members of the NFL Hall of Fame, and the NFL annual honors are bestowed. Will Ravens tackle Jonathan Ogden and late owner Art Modell gain enshrinement? My prediction: Ogden yes, Modell no, though he should be.
Check back here tomorrow morning for my last update!
