I enjoyed reading this article about the public hearing on HCPSS Superintendent Renee Foose's first ever budget proposal. There are a number of cool initiatives in said budget and it seems if they were all received well.
I am kind of surprised that the HCPSS didn't currently have a dietician on staff to work on student nutrition issues. So, not sure if this is an additional position-- maybe someone can clarify-- but nevertheless, I'm glad to see this new, proposed position get support! And the two new community liaison positions are definitely needed to help meet the needs of a county growing both in number and in diversity.
If you're interested in learning more about how the HCPSS intended to fund itself, the Board of Education is having public work sessions on the budget on February 12th and 19th. So show up!
