As longtime readers of this blog know, I don't have much use for the current CA Board rep in my village, Oakland Mills. I believe that he should change his name to Armenian Hobbit, which would at least allow him to keep all his monogrammed possessions. Funny, but also thinking about said monogram-- "AH"-- I can also think about another term, this one of seven letters, by which this leader/functionary/tool of the Alliance of Bitter Columbians could be called.
But, AH has withstood at least one strong challenge to his reign of ineptitude and complaining, thanks to the interference of a megalomaniac State Delegate from west Columbia, and lots of the "Columbia pioneers". Strange, but when did the definition of "pioneer" mean "change averse".
But now, someone else has stepped forth to challenge AH. And this one ought to be darned interesting.
Julia McCready writes the blog "Village Green/Town Squared". She's demonstrated in the past that she doesn't have much respect for my record of leadership and accomplishment and so, I don't have much use for hers. But very recently, we had a nice conversation and after about a year of turning our noses up at each other I think there's thaw in the air.
To pay Julia a compliment, she has developed her thinking about community even from the time she was on the OM Village Board. She is showing that she can balance vision with pragmatism, and demonstrating the realization that on occasion, when you need to make an omelette, you gotta break a few eggs. These are positive developments.
And so, she blogged yesterday that she will run for CA Board in Oakland Mills against AH. This is an extraordinarily welcome development for the Village of Oakland Mills, Columbia, Maryland.
I shall be watching this race with much interest! And, oh, yes, you can be damn sure I'll be endorsing.
Thank goodness for such an excellent choice at election time!
