It finally seems that 2014's candidates are starting to act like adults and declare what they're going to run for. And for once, I have Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown to thank. Because it looks like on May 10th he's going to make "a very special announcement"! And I don't think this announcement has anything to do with the TV show "Ace of Cakes".
I would be SOOOOOOO happy if his invite were to say "Anthony Brown for Governor", but it doesn't, and so, oh well. A guy can't have everything.
Two questions I have here. Let's make the wild-eyed assumption that this is a gubernatorial announcement. When will the others jump in? May someone try to bump ahead of the Looey Guv? Will we have a run of announcements by Memorial Day for summer parade planning purposes and Tawes crabfeast ticket purchases?
Second question. The blog post lends speculation that Looey Gov may announce his running mate at his announcement. That's probably only about 5-6 months too early. With the new elections schedule I'd think the fall would be a a better time. Then again, having a running mate would mean that's more boots on the ground to campaign. It will be interesting to see if this comes to pass and if the other candidates follow suit. And will the Looey Guv's Looey Guv running mate be like, Sgt. Guv? That would be cool!
