Few people think more in Columbia, about Columbia, than the blogger known as Columbia Compass Guy. At least, known as that by me!
I have been too long in writing about this fantastic post by Bill recently. IMHO, he posts too infrequently, but for what Bill may lack in quantity, he makes up for in quality!
So here's the thing. While some are wringing hands over the Inner Arbor, the new fitness center, Whole Foods, and the ubiquitous "Jim Rouse's Vision", there is an inconvenient truth, an inescpable reality, confronting Columbia. Columbia, and Columbians, are getting older. And what is CA going to focus on in light of this?
Most people who read blogs, and I think many of us who write them, think of CA as the board, President, and maybe the senior staff. But CA consists of hundreds of staff who annually provide the services we residents enjoy. How is the provision of these services to be revised in the coming years and decades?
Bill brings attention to all of us that there's a Business Plan out there that addresses this. But there is a caution to this. If Columbians keep getting their attention diverted by the axe-grinders, they will lose attention better spent on discussing better and bigger things. Like this thing.
The writing of a new CA business plan is a big deal and I urge everyone to read this document and participate in the community conversation surrounding it!
