Yeah, I know I have mucked up all rules of capitalization in the title of this post. Darn.
I am going to give absurd shout outs to HowChow today, for this post which represents some of the best food news to come to the HoCo this year! Husband and wife chef/sommelier team CIndy Wolf and Tony Foreman, whose Baltimore restaurants such as Pewtit Louis, Charleston and Cinghale have helped elevate the already awesome Baltimore restaurant scene to another level altogether, are coming to Columbia. They are taking over the space that used to be the Red Pearl, and before that, a host of different things. Anyone remember the Brazilian steakhouse that used to be there? How about Sgt. Pepper's?
Going to be cool to see what goes there, what concept they go with. I am not even going to guess. But I will say this: this restaurant, as well as the building of the Whole Foods, are clear investments by the commerical sector on the future of downtown Columbia. These businesspeople are not placing their bets on the status quo. They have seen the future on the basis of the downtown plan and they are excited!
And as someone who likes good food and good conversation, I'm pretty excited about this development too! Especially as that particular space could use a restaurant with some staying power.
Meanwhile, the opponents of progress in Columbia's downtown have, what, exactly? Looking forward to the counterproposal by the Coalition for Columbia's Downtown, Taxpayers Against Giveaways, and the other haters of people not exactly like them where they share their vision.
