If you felt a slight temporal anamoly this week, it may very well have been Columbia shifting back into the 00s for the week. Because a couple of lineup changes in the boards of our local community associations brought the New City back to the future.
First, on the CA Board, to replace Tom Coale, who of course resigned from the board since he is a candidate for House of Delegates, former Dorsey's Search CA Board representative Tom O'Connor was appointed to replacew Tom Coale. (Hmm. Something wrong with sentence structure. Darn.) Tom O'Connor has served well on the CA Board from Dorsey's Search in the past, even serving for awhile as CA Board Chair. His experience and perspective will serve the CA Board of 2013 well.
Meanwhile, in the Village of Oakland Mills, a former OMCA Board member and Chair was selected to fill a vacancy on the village board that existed since April's village elections. And that person? Me!
This isn't the same village it was when I left the village board in 2006 and although some of the issues in Oakland Mills are the same, some of them are quite different. And the economic situation of the time may call for different solutions. I am encouraged and happy for my fellow board members' support of me, and I promise to be the best darn board member I can be. Really looking forward to the service.
Happy Friday, True Believers!
