Well, that didn't last long. Only a few hours, in fact.
And there definitely will be a meaningful Democratic Primary in the District 12 Delegate's race. Eric Ebersole, a Catonsville resident and activist and teacher at Reservoir High School, also announced his candidacy for Delegate yesterday. You can read about it all here.
Ebersole is a political neophyte but, in Google searching some of his connections, he definitely knows people who know politics. Such as Jim Malone's campaign treaurer. And being connected to the Catonsville Chamber of Commerce certainly helps the business bona fides. The extent of any connection between Delegates Malone and Deboy and the Ebersole campaign will bear watching.
An obvious difference between Ebersole and the other announced candidates is their ages. Ebersole is 55; while I'm not immediately aware of the ages of the other candidates, I am pretty sure they are all in their 20s and 30s. Considering that District 12 is getting older, and aging in place as well as attracting younger families are issues in Catonsville as well as Columbia, it will be interesting to see how age and life experience play as factors in this race.
Oh, and by the way, I still don't think we're done in this Democratic Primary! Mark my words, True Believers: this field is not yet set!
