CA has ensured that it will not go leaderless as of Thursday, as it named Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Susan Krabbe Interim President. She is a great choice for the interim position, as by all accounts her work has been widely praised and respected by CA Board members, other staff, the village associations and residents. May her interim Presidency be pleasant and short! And that is in no way a criticism of her abilities at all.
Rather, it is a statement of hope that CA gets this President search thing done, as Andy Stack claims it will be, by early May. What could be the holdup? Is it getting the three new board members up to speed in the process? Getting their official okie-dokie?
But.... wait a minute here. One of the new CA Board members may not, and in my view should not, be rising to the CA Board. Reg Avery is no longer a candidate for CA Board but he sure is a candidate for County Council. So this needs to be reconciled first.
And in my mind, how this gets reconciled is that he suspends his County Council campaign. Stops running altogether. That's how I support a waiver for him.
Otherwisde, CA needs to reject this waiver and let the Oakland Mills Village Board figure this out. My view is that they would need to appoint a new CA Board member, or have a new election.
So if the CA President appointment is being delayed to get all the CA Board members on board-- well, CA Board, if you do your job, that may take awhile.
Today is Honesty Day! Now that's ironic.
Let's be careful out there.
