Glad the legislation will fail. It was a steaming pile of partisan poo.

Despite the 'well thought-out and superbly articulated' statement this was a political decision for Kittleman and Weinstein. They are the only 2 up for reelection in 2018 and have been growing closer because of that. But the people that were against CB9 are not likely Weinstein voters anyway, so it seems to me he angered his base on the wrong issue.

Now that time has passed, it seems the outrage about Jon Weinstein's decision has intensified, not faded. And I think it could be much more so in the years to come. I hope he reverses for the veto override, but I doubt he will.

What might have seemed like a practical opposition, is just going to look like cowardice. Overt racism is becoming more and more acceptable. Trump rails against Latinos and Muslims and associates them with heinous crimes. His supporters stereotype Jews and Asians the same way. The argument that if we let Trump go after Latinos and Muslims he'll leave us alone, is going to look foolish and cowardly.

We have a rise in hate crimes around the country and the county that follows the racist rhetoric. There will be individual teachers or cops who will bully or enforce immigration laws. Maybe not as policy at first, but there will be some bad actors. Then there will be those who will be deputized to work with ICE, and immigrants will die for fear of going to the hospital or the police.

Those who made the wrong decisions are not likely to be forgiven. Time is not on their side.
