Oh, Dear God. Russ Swatek, Alan Klen and the CCD fringe are at it again.
Below is an e-mail that Swatek sent earlier this evening to members of the CA Board. Not all members, mind you, but certain members. It is reproduced below, with my comments indicated in the Blue Text of Truth!!!
I am so going to enjoy attending the CA Board of Directors Thursday! It is going to be my mosterest favorite meeting ever!!!! But, I digress.... The Letter!
Columbia residents OK...so far he's accurate!,
Please see message below The "below message" is from Alan Klein and I am leaving it alone for now.. For those of you following the CA/Symphony Woods debacle, you know that CA is proposing to create a 501(c)(3) 'trust' to manage the development and maintenance of Symphony Woods. In reality it will not be the legal entity known as a trust, but merely a corporation seeking 501(c)(3) status. I understand there is a big difference between the two. And after reading the reasoning behind CA being denied 501(c)(3) status in the 1980's which is, of course, SO extremely relevant to now... how, exactly, Russ? , I doubt this new corporation will ever get that status which is necessary for it to apply for many type of grants and for donors to be able to make tax exempt donations And your basis for this statement is what? Contempt without investigation is a bad thing, Russ. Not very open-minded, are you?. '501(c)(3)' and 'trust' are simply feel good salesman terms to put the CA residents at ease while this is being put in place.uhh, Russ? You forgot to add, "in my opinion."
CA is currently creating this new corporation with no safeguards for the lien-payers Justify this statement, please. What are lienpayers supposed to be safeguarded against? Define, please the risks. Because as reported and understood, I see none. . The new corporation's initial Board of Directors may hold lifetime positions. Popes! Popes will be in charge of the Inner Arbor Trust. Well, it makes sense. Benedict XVI isn't very busy these days. I wanna be a Columbia Pope! Although service on the CA Board is non-paid duh, there is nothing that would prohibit this new corporation from giving its Directors hefty compensation or it could be volunteer too, like many nonprofit boards are. I know, I've served on a few in my time and have never been paid a penny. More scare tactics.. I am not saying they would no, of course not!, but just saying that the CA Board is not exercising due diligence with respect to establishing this new entity. Oh, this would of course, explain why the vote was postponed.
CA also proposes to initially transfer $1.6 M to the new corporation and to give it a permanent easement to the use of Symphony Woods well, wouldn't they have to have access and use of the property it is charged with managing?. CA's President Nelson has already stated that the new corporation may grant subleases of Symphony Woods property to other entities So?. There is nothing in the current proposal that would restrict any of this. Not sure there oughtta be, Paco.
In short, if these proposals are indeed carried out, there is very little chance of a Central Park environment in Symphony Woods ever happening Actually, there's an outstanding chance of that happening, but that's just me, and you're just you, Russ, I guess.. Our County Executive is already making statements about putting money in next year's budget for development in Symphony Woods.
Russ Swatek Marshmallow Man
Is it any surprise that this guy was a DeLacy supporter in last year's boe election?

Why do some people choose to see evil everywhere? Why do Alan Klein & Russ Swatek assume everyone in Town Center agrees with their viewpoint? As a young(er) person here, I am thrilled with the progress being made. Symphony Woods is boring under the Cy Paumier plan and is exciting under the Inner Arbor plan! Do I think that CA will do everything perfectly? No (although what defines perfect in this case isn't really clear). But this particular lienholder of a Town Center residence is perfectly fine with the transfer of money to this new 501c3 for managing & developing SW. I want my money, actually mostly my husband's since I'm part-time :), to go toward progress. Nice things cost money. I am curious, however, if the CCD will figure out some way to file a lawsuit. In which case, I will not be happy because that would be a WASTE of CA's money. Inner Arbor, however, is not.
