I swear, every time I think about this guy's campaign, this music goes through my head. Wonder why?
More fun today about Rich Corkran, Democratic Delegate candidate in District 9B who has spent a Ford Explorer's worth of his own money on his campaign, which so far has consisted of appearances at forums, responses to questionnaires, and 6 mailers-- four negative, and two positive. Yay for you, Rich! Just think of how so many charities could've benefitted from that cash. Or well, you could'a gone to Maryland Live and bet it all on black. That's what Wesley Snipes would've done.
I wonder what campaign company or consultant is gorging himself, herself, or itself on cheesy poofs with these funds? But I digress.
So the thrust of Corkran's campaign seems to be that his Democratic opponent, Tom Coale, was once a Republican. And for what it's worth, this blog has endorsed Tom Coale.
But while Rich thinks that Tom's deciding to switch sides was just a horrible, horrible thing, switching sides is something that Rich Corkran does all too well! To wit, just look at this Corkran questionnaire from 2006 and compare to one from 2014:
So in 2006, when he ran for Senate in District 9, Corkran was against extending certain opportunities to illegal immigrants (the DREAM Act), against same sex marriage, against stricter gun control measures, against certain additional environmental protections, and barely in favor of slot machine gambling.
In 2014, Corkran is in favor of the DREAM Act, in favor of same sex marriage (and laws against transgender discrimination), for gun control, for the environment, and is all over expanding casino gambling to include table games.
Now, the 2014 questionnaire gives Rich the chance to explain his new positions. But he doesn't take advantage of the opportunity. So I guess he figured no one would notice. Well, someone did!
Rich, don't you know that stuff on the Internet lasts forever? I mean, look at this mess of a Democratic candidate who ran in Ellicott City in 1998. Hey, is that other guy the same Bob Flanagan?
Maybe Rich will do a mailer explaining his own, uh, evolution as a political figure. Or maybe he'll sent out more postcards with pictures of Tom Coale and Sarah Palin. Because Rich thinks Sadie Palin is one hotsy-totsy. Seriously, Corkran's duplicity is ridiculous and stands as reason number 536 why no one should vote for him.
Happy World Environment Day!
Let's be careful out there.
#hocopolitics
I can find nothing more ludicrous than Corkran's assertion that being a former Republican is a scandal. If he is truly committed to Democratic issues and values, shouldn't he be thrilled that someone "saw the light" and chose the Democratic Party?
