I would be remiss in not mentioning the sad passing of former HCPSS Superintendent Sydney Cousin. Dr. Cousin came back to the HCPSS at a time of great distrust and suspicion in the school system, and he did an admirable job getting the system back on it's feet. My condolences to all his friends and family and all those who think of him fondly.
Recently I perused several Howard County-oriented periodicals and I thought I'd bring these two political meets and greets to your attention:
This Thursday, August 23, the HoCo Chamber of Commerce is hosting an event to say hello, and get to know, various elected officials from 5:30-7:30pm at La Palapa on Main Street in Ellicott City. No word as to if candidates will also be in attendance. This event is $30 for Chamber members is $40 if you are not a Chamber member.
For those of you who are HCPSS oriented, on Tuesday, September 25, from 6:30 - 8:30pm at the East Columbia Library, you can meet your Board of Education candidates! This is a free event.
I love that local organizations are holding forums and will be happy to publicize more of them! Feel free to send them my way.
Let's be careful out there.
